(below) The former residence of James Hayter and his wife June. James was elected and sworn in as Reeve of the Township of Stephen and Warden of the County of Huron in 1969. Previous to that he was elected as a Councillor for Stephen Township in 1959-1960; Appointed Deputy Reeve of Stephen from 1961-1965, and served as Reeve of the Township from 1966-1969.(Muriel Mack pgs.505-508)
