G.N.O. (Girl’s Night Out) Club

“In 1949 a bridge club called Girl’s Night Out (G.N.O.) was organized by Lucy Klumpp, Alma Genttner, Ninia Wein and Pauline Guenther. The first meeting was held at Lucy Klumpp’s home with 16 members present. An executive was elected with president, Lucy Klumpp, vice-president, Martha Merner and secretary-treasurer, Aldene Wolfe. They used to make money at the ball games with a food booth, street dances, bake sales and raffles. Every year at Christmas they donated to Family and Children’s Services and South Huron Hospital.

The membership fee was $1, in the last twenty years the group just plays cards. They are not a money making club. The fee is now $10. There are now 17 members with the executive for 1985, president Barbara McIsaac, vice-president, Vera Guenther; secretary, Gloria Hayter. They celebrated their 35th anniversary in May, 1984. All the former members are invited and dinner prepared by Gloria Hayter.”
