“Zion Lutheran Cemetery, on Lot 9, Con. 12 (the Bronson Line) was the site of the first St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. This site is still used as a cemetery. A substantial bequest by John Becker in 1964 was used to purchase more land to extend the cemetery to the south. The cemetery gateposts were rebuilt in 1992 and a new chain fence replaced the older fence across the front. The earliest gravestones are inscribed in the German language, One being that of Anna Margaretta Walper ‘eineborne Weber, starb den,’ July 12, 1854.”
